The 6 in 6Lab stands for six areas we build every week, not the number of seats. Every child works across all six.

Homework support, study skills, and small wins that stack up.

Hands-on experiments that answer real “why” questions.

Coding, AI basics, and tools kids can actually build with.

4 · Engineering

Design, build, test, improve. The engineering loop, kid-sized.

Monday Food Science Lab: real recipes, kitchen chemistry, kitchen math.

Who's behind 6Lab

Leah

A technologist, designer, and STEM educator who believes exposure matters: the more children get to try, the more possibilities they can imagine for themselves. Former STEM Coordinator at Girls Inc. of Greater Madison, with an M.S. in Information from UW-Madison.

Questions parents ask

How does school pickup work?
Students are met at the designated school dismissal location and travel as a supervised group to the nearby 6Lab Academy program location. We currently serve Chávez Elementary, with more schools planned.
What ages is 6Lab for?
Ages 8–12, roughly grades 3 through 7. Programming is designed to feel like a lab and studio, not daycare.
What does it cost?
Founding Fall Quarter pricing is shared when applications open. Joining the interest list is free and commits you to nothing.
What happens after I join the list?
We reach out within a couple of days, answer your questions, and invite you to apply when applications open. Founding seats are offered before September 14.
Is 6Lab a daycare?
6Lab is an After-School STEM + Academic Studio: a small-group enrichment program built around academics, engineering, and making.
